About

Hi, I’m Dorothy Fletcher Bentley, the owner and creator of ‘Newgrange Jewellery’. Sterling silver jeweller inspired by the tri-spiral of Newgrange, in Co. Meath. My jewellery is hand-carved in wax and cast in sterling silver. All pieces are made in my home studio in Tullow, Co. Carlow.

I am a Graphic Designer by profession and grew up in Ireland, very near the Newgrange Megalithic tomb. Having visited many times throughout my childhood, the tri-spiral pattern has always captivated me. Having learned the art of wax carving I began sculpting my Newgrange-inspired pieces which resulted in the jewellery you see on this website. Sculpting the design in wax is my favourite part of the process. Because of this my Newgrange jewellery is truly hand-carved, just like the exquisite patterns made by ancient Irish craftsmen.

Although 3D printing makes it possible to sculpt wax jewellery nowadays, I prefer to stay with traditional techniques by continuing to carve my pieces using a piece of wax, a spirit lamp and wax files, so you can see and feel my work in the tactile raised relief pattern.

My jewellery is cast in .925 sterling silver and hallmarked by the Assay office, Dublin.

All my Newgrange pieces are shipped from Ireland via registered post.

Please follow me on Facebook, Instagram and X, and check out my process on YouTube.

I hope you enjoy wearing your piece of Newgrange Jewellery as much as I have enjoyed making it.
